Kids Outdoors! Summer 2023 Activities in Lincoln National Forest

Kids Outdoors! The Smokey Bear Ranger District invites kids from kindergarten to 6th grade and their parents to attend four days of fun activities and hands-on learning in the open air of the Lincoln National Forest. Guided by Forest Service staff, kids will learn how to identify animals in the forest, why pollination is important, how to read maps and learn the facts about wildfires.

Come join the rangers for some mornings of outdoor fun.

Dates: Activities will be held on May 30, June 1, June 6, and June 8, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Sam Tobias Memorial Group Campground along Cedar Creek Drive.

Directions: from Mechem Drive in Ruidoso, NM, drive west 1 mile on Cedar Creek Drive and turn right into the campground.

Details: Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing and shoes for walking on dirt trails and through the grass. Bring your own water and snacks. If it rains the morning of the activity day, the class will be canceled for that day. Parents must accompany their child(ren) for the duration of the event. The outdoor classroom is free to the public.
