Join Lincoln Historic Site for their monthly lecture series. Oliver Horn, Ph.D., Site Manager at Lincoln and Fort Stanton Historic Sites will talk about Fort Stanton’s Buffalo Soldiers and how the site was recently added to the National Park Service’s Reconstruction Era National Historic Network, which recognizes sites and programs throughout the country that honor the legacy of the Black community. Fort Stanton joins the network in honor of its history as the home to a unit of the 125th Colored Infantry (1866-67), and later Buffalo Soldiers of the 9th Cavalry Regiments (1875-81). The site joins 107 listings in the Network spread across 28 states and Washington, D.C. Fort Stanton is the only member of the network located in the Southwest. The lecture is included with general admission of $7/adult. Children 16 and younger free.
