The richly atmospheric music of guitarist Ottmar Liebert and his multi-instrumental band, Luna Negra, is described as Spanish gypsy with contemporary grooves.
The platinum selling Liebert carved out the genre of Nuevo Flamenco nearly 30 years ago with his mysterious instrumentals – an engaging mix of subdued flamenco guitar and South American percussion with Rock, Jazz, Hindu and Pop influences. His compelling tunes – especially the innovative Barcelona Nights – made Liebert an immediate sensation and his sound a favorite among guitar enthusiasts. His first album sold double platinum and has become the biggest-selling guitar album of all time. The German-born artist, who calls Santa Fe home, has said that “Flamenco is a music both romantic and dangerous; it is an attitude as much as it is a musical genre.”
