“King of the Accordian” Ramon Ayala is headed for the stage at Inn of the Mountain Gods Saturday, November 24. The Mexican musician, composer and songwriter of Norteño and Conjunto music is a master accordionist, having played for more than 40 years, recorded over 113 albums and taken home four Grammy awards.
Ayala played a major role in the modernization of Conjunto music, forging a distinct sound and compiling a roster of songs that have been covered by countless Latin artists over the years. He’s behind such hits as “Un Rinconcito en el Cielo,” “Chaparra de mi Amor,” “Tragos Amargos” and the Latin Grammy winning songs “Quemame Los Ojos” and “El Numero Cien.” Ayala continues to be one of the best-selling Noreñto musicians of his generation, with music featured in 13 films.
