About XTERRA
XTERRA is a global off-road endurance sports organization that brings athletes together through adventure, competition, and a shared connection to nature. Founded in Maui, Hawaii, in 1996, XTERRA pioneered off-road triathlon, combining open-water swimming, mountain biking, and trail running in spectacular natural environments.
Today, XTERRA connects an international community through its World Tour, World Cup, Youth Tour, and Trail Run World Series, welcoming athletes of different ages and abilities to explore new challenges and destinations.
The XTERRA World Championship celebrates the sport’s highest level of competition. After championship eras in Hawaii and Italy, the event began a new chapter in Ruidoso, New Mexico, in 2026, with the mountain community hosting the World Championship through 2028.
