The world's top off-road triathletes are coming to Ruidoso for the XTERRA World Championship, the pinnacle event of the global XTERRA series, October 8–11, 2026.

Set high in the Sierra Blanca mountains of southern New Mexico, Ruidoso offers cool October temperatures, forested trails, high-altitude challenge, and a compact mountain-town setting where athletes, supporters, and spectators share the same streets, cafés, and trailheads throughout race week.

The 2026 championship marks XTERRA's 30th anniversary and its long-awaited return to the United States. More than a race, the week will bring together athletes from around the world, the people who support them, and a host community known for resilience, hospitality, and a deep connection to the outdoors.

From the alpine beauty of Grindstone Lake to the energy of Midtown and the genuine welcome found throughout the village, XTERRA World Championship week will be a shared celebration of endurance, adventure, and community.
